The silent problem in your code table
Almost all Spanish healthcare software loads ICD-10-ES from an Excel file once… and never touches it again. Meanwhile, every edition adds and retires codes, and the SNS Terminology Server is reserved for regional health authorities and public-system entities.
Outdated codes
The 2026 edition added 890 codes, modified 399 and removed others. If your table is from 2024, you accept codes that no longer exist and reject new ones.
Validations nobody runs
The regulations define which codes don't count as a principal diagnosis, which require age or sex consistency, and the POA exemptions. Almost no software checks this at the point of data entry.
The cost shows up late
Returned reports, rejected CMBD records (Spain's national hospital discharge dataset), disputed invoices. The coding error is paid for months later, multiplied.

About the data and its licence
The API serves the official ICD-10-ES reference tables published by Spain's Ministry of Health (the Spanish translation of ICD-10-CM © NCHS/CDC and ICD-10-PCS © CMS), reused under the terms of the Ministry's legal notice: without altering their content and always citing the source and update date. Latest edition included: ICD-10-ES 2026 (published in January 2026).
